VRG

The IT service provider VRG runs its website on TYPO3. The design came from another party; the technical build in the CMS came from us.

01 Starting point

VRG is an IT service provider, which makes its own website a piece of evidence as well. Anyone who sells IT is measured by their own site — by load time, structure, stability, and by how cleanly content stays maintained over the years.

The plan and the design did not come from us in this project. For the build that means taking a finished draft into a TYPO3 system without design decisions being watered down in the code. In projects of this kind, most of the friction arises at exactly this seam: between what a layout shows and what a CMS has to deliver for the people editing it.

02 Solution

Sharpness Solutions in Oldenburg took on the technical build. The supplied design was carried into TYPO3: Fluid templates, reusable content elements and a backend structure that makes the given layout blocks workable for editors.

The site runs on TYPO3 with a current PHP 8 base. Frontend assets are delivered bundled, and caching and image processing are handled by the CMS. Development and deployment run in Docker containers, so local environment, staging and production are built the same way.

Instead of building every page individually, we built a kit of content elements. New pages are assembled from existing blocks. The layout therefore stays consistent even when different people add content over the years.

03 Result

The division of roles is clean: design from one side, technical build from us. The result is a TYPO3 site that matches the supplied draft and stays editable without help from a developer.

Because the build stays close to the TYPO3 standard and changes sit in the template rather than in the core, security updates and version jumps remain predictable. We cover TYPO3 up to version 13 in our own team.
